Recently there have been a lot of talented musicians playing in our hometown of Batavia. Several fans would like the chance to say thank you to these very talented local musicians who took the time to come together.
Most of all I would like to give recognition to a very special musician, my father, Timothy LaPorte. My father has been playing instruments for over 40 years. He has lived in Batavia his whole life, playing shows at local benefits, parties, restaurant, bars and personal events. He is a multi-talented musician playing a variety of instruments.
At Ramble II in Jackson Square on July 7, Tim played in not only an excellent band called the Cheer Daddy's (including Jim Martin, Mike Houseknecht, Jan Dirks, Ted Hawley and Joe Cintorino), but he played in another very special band named O.S.H.A. This band also includes Ted Hawley and Jim Cappiello and Phil Zehler who came all the way from Texas to play at the event. Later that night, O.S.H.A. played at T.F. Brown's which brought out an amazing crowed. Other musicians, including Mike Murray, Kevin Moyles, Tom McBride, Rich Lullo and Keith Krupner came out and played, too.
My father played in six different bands in the past two weeks which takes hard work and dedication. I speak for several fans when I say thank you for bringing so much entertainment to Batavia. I think that we should take pride in our hometown musicians. Thank you to all the musicians who played in Ramble II. And I would like to especially thank my very talented father, Timothy LaPorte.
