The annual Ramble concerts generate their share of nostalgia.

Beyond current bands and longtime favorites, older musicians can rattle off some of the groups that once set the city abuzz: names like the Squires, Slim Chicken and the Prodigal Sons.

Organizers pay tribute annually to the much-missed musicians who couldn't make it. Or as posse member "Mild Bill" Pitcher alluded, the musicians playing at "the big Ramble in the Sky."

The Jackson Square concert stopped at 5 p.m. for a tribute to Batavia's deceased musicians. Pitcher read their names aloud, followed by a singing of "Amazing Grace."

Those memorialized included: Rollie Barbeau, Bill Barnes, Les Bauer, Tom Becker, Bill Bird, Charlie Bower, Paul Bower, Johnny Brunson, Roxy Caccamise, Bob Cahoon, Tom Cahoon, Ronnie Carnahan, Dan Castranova, Nick Cionetti, Randy Cole, Carl D'Angelo, Butch Del Plato, Larry Diehl, Rick Duckworth, Mark Dumuhosky, Warren Fargo, Joseph Furst Sr., Denny Gill, Dan Hale, Bob "Purple" Hayes, Freddy Herman, Doug Irwin, Howard Irwin, Jim "Face" Kessler, Jim Klippel, Cisel Kisel Sr., Moe LaMay, Paul Lambert, Mike "Chin" Lamendola, Joe Madison, Patrick Maher, Paul Manardi, Bill Martin, Danny Martino, Rick McClain, Steve Miller, Monty Montendo, Martin Moore, Nicky Naples, Jim Palumbo, George Pawlak, Phil Pillo, Dave Plath, Walt Rice, Harry Ruffino, Frank Scopano, Tom Simmons, Francis Stone, Fred J. Stone Sr., Ma Taylor, John Tooker, George Tundo, Ken Veltz Sr., Roger Waite, Charlie Wallace, Doug "Duke" Weeks, Ernie Wood, and Danny Zarconi.

Organizers said they didn't want to accidentally omit anybody. Those wishing to add to the list of memorialized Batavia-area musicians may e-mail ramble@verizon.net.
